Jessica was aware that her role required weapons training. After reading the script she recorded the first part of her session with a professional. According to Jonathan Glassner, the stunt team was astonished by the level of training she received during her initial lesson. The Outpost marked her first major part in the US because her earlier movies were located in Australia. Jessica's enthusiasm for action is evident in her character, with mixed martial arts, horseback riding expertise, in addition to her weapons and athletic capabilities. Jessica can also pull off her stunts in a way that portrays the strength of a female character. Jessica is a boxer who has been trained and muay Thai and a mixed martial artist. Jake Stormoen was shooting Season 4 of the show was able to meet a puppy who was wandering around the sets. This dog turned out to be part of the litter of puppies, who had taken place in the studios. Jessica took care of both puppies.
